People suffering from depression may become intolerant of the behavior of others. Because of the difficulties they face in dealing with day-to-day challenges, seeing the apparent ease with which acquaintances manage their lives can be frustrating. When a depressed person feels slighted, they may become overly sensitive to perceived slights and even experience emotional outbursts. Some cases of depression are thought to be caused by repressed anger and an inability to deal with inner rage healthily.
